Klonopin (clonazepam) can be prescribed to treat anxiety, as well as panic disorder or seizure disorders. It works by correcting the imbalance of chemicals in the brain. Unless your health care provider recommended otherwise you are not supposed to take Klonopin for longer than 9 weeks. Even then do not stop taking it suddenly as this medicine can be habit-forming and you can have highly unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. Even if you become pregnant while taking this medicine do not stop taking Klonopin, as you may lose control over your seizures – and this is especially dangerous when you are expecting a baby. Keep all your doctor’s appointments as your blood may need to be tested. This is required to make sure Klonopin is working for you and you do not experience its harmful effects.
